A 500 ml screw-top tin, located where the bushline shelter used to be. We always knew it as Kea Hut, even though there was a similarly named one on the Bushline side. Now there's no shelter, just a gorgeous view.
Those of you who have slogged up the Pinchgut have probably already just bagged "Who pinched my gut?", and will probably welcome the stop at this point, just as you're about to go on to the Robert Ridge.
In Mt Robert Ski Club days, this was the point at which you put on another layer or two, adjusted your pack (which would have included half a pound of stewing steak, 2 spuds and a can of fruit for the communal meal that night), and continued on up for a weekend's skiing.
This cache shouldn't be too hard to find as the GPS is very accurate up this rarified level. Look for a place a kea might like to investigate.

This is one of several caches by this owner on the Bushline/Paddy's Track circuit. You can easily do this for a day walk and is a great place to take kids or those new to tramping, as you get a variety of forest and open tops, as well as fabulous views in all directions. The Bushline Hut is a lovely place to stay for the night if you want to. It must have the best toilet view anywhere! There are other caches by different owners which make it possible to do at least 4 caches on the circuit.
If you're planning to do this cache, please consider taking a spare logbook and plastic bag along, just in case the log is damp or full!
