Geocache Description:

Along the shores of a little lake lie the ruins of some structure. Inside these ruins I have hidden a small lock and lock large enough for small trade items or even travel bugs.

If you do a little digging in the history books about Lake Renwick you will find out that it originally started out as a gravel pit,
until the mining tapped into a few natural springs in the area, which then began to fill the pit up with water. The mining company of course had to move their equipment around as the water rose. But the didn't stop the intrepid business men of the late 1910's as they began ice harvesting out of the lake to make money during the winter month's.

In the 1920's, there was even a sand with a small pier and diving board and bath house at one point, which you could have access to for the summer season for a whole $3 dollars. The last business for the lake was a restuarant called Powell's Mill, which served patrons thru the 1930's. But unfortunately the amount of pollutiion had taken its toll on the lake and the entire lake was encircled by a fence and largely devoid of human traffic from the 1950's until the Will County took over the property and turned it into the Lake Renwick Preserve.

I haven't been able to figure out what these ruins are? Are they some part of the mining operation? Or maybe some remains of the beach and bath house that once existed? Or are they the remains of Powell's Mill? I haven't found anything among the ruins to help identify what it use to be maybe you will spot something and help solve the mystery.

Warning: This preserve is pretty popular with the muggles, so keep your eyes open and use as much stealth as necessary too retrieve the cache.
