Geocache Description:

We were working in Lumber City and felt it needed a cache. It's near the boat ramp to the Altamaha River where there's an old, and still used, railroad bridge over the river.

4/15/2011 - realized today that this is still the Ocmulgee River, it doesn't become the Altamaha until the Oconee River joins it just downstream a short distance. Oh well, the name stays the same.

Container is a duct tape (not camo) wrapped plastic bottle (4/16/2016: It's now a blue watertight box -MrDerekM). We started it with a couple of key chains, pen, log and some other goodies. We pass through here 3 or 4 times a year and should be able to maintain the log. (Edit: Cache adopted and now maintained by Mr Derek M).

Access to the river is on the southbound side of Hwy 341, but there is a crossover. Lots of riprap under the bridge so be careful.

4/10/2015: Please be sure to return the container to its original hiding spot. I've found it in 3 different places and have had to return it each time. Keeping the cache in its hiding spot is essential to keeping the hint relevant, keeping the contents of the cache dry, and keeping it out of view of muggles. The area under the bridge is used quite often by boaters and bored teenagers. - Mr Derek M

Updated 4/15/2011! Replaced this cache today with another container. Update coords, but essentially the same as the previous cache: 31 55.281' ; 82 40.490'
