Geocache Description:

The Hedgesville Town Spring was made at the site of a natural limestone spring which had been an Indian meeting place before the white man came into the region.

Hedgesville, as a political entity, is older than the State of West Virginia, being incorporated under the laws of Virginia in 1854. It was platted in 1830 from land owned by Josiah Hedges and Mary Claycomb; these plots came from the Lord Fairfax and Westenhaver grants. The town grew from a trading village in the gap of the North Mountain for settlers moving west. This spring has been the center of this historic town for hundreds of years.

Do not park on Route 9. There is plenty of parking behind the spring on Town Spring Street.

Please visit this cache between dawn and dusk. This cache was placed with permission of the the Hedgesville Town Council. It's a micro attached to a larger host. It's not a park and grab, but really shouldn't be to difficult to find. You can spot the host with your hands in your pocket.
