Geocache Description:

NEW COORDINATES N 32° 45.753 W 079° 50.338CHECK NEW COORDINATES POSTED 12-31-15!!!

This cache is located on one of many trails in this area--the catch is, which one?!
May be muddy (read: SLIPPERY) after rain. Steep.
Not accessible at night, or on July 3rd or 4th as it is within the perimeter of the fireworks launch area for the Town of SI fireworks show.

The "mound" is open from dawn to dusk. This cache is off limits after dark ("No trespassing" signs indicate these hours of use...daylight hours only!) Numerous cache(s) have been muggled (or raccoon-ed?) Please be aware of surrounding visitors and do not place anything shiny or smelly in the cache (raccoons love the shiny and smelly stuff!) Cache is a small tupperware container, just out of reach of the muggles.

This cache was originally placed by the Pack 59 Webelos Cub Scouts and is maintained by area Scouts and Scouters. We named it Poe's cache, in honor of the 200th birthday of Edgar Allan Poe, because he wrote many of his famous works while spending time on Sullivan's Island. (You may wish to visit the County Library, "Poe Library", at 1921 I'On Avenue, two blocks away.)

Interesting article on "The Mound" from our island paper, the Island Eye:

You'll understand why we called it "Jungle" after you find it! Park at the Sullivan's Island Fire Department parking lot.
Best entrance to cache area through one of the play areas.
If you are up for a hike, go to the top of the mound for a great view of the surrounding area from the field atop the mound.
If you are up for a workout, join "SI boot camp" and run up and down the mound access road 5 times. Warmed up yet?
Good luck! And have fun!
Help us keep our park clean by practicing Cache In-Trash Out--but leave a few large pieces of cardboard on the mound--everyone uses those to sled down the hill!!!
