*************************************************

Meetinghouse Park is a forested area in the center of Townsend that was purchased by the towns-people a number of years ago with the intent of it being kept as open green space for recreational use.

Over the last few years a town Trail Committee was formed to layout hiking paths throughout Meetinghouse Park. Several Scouts have worked on the trails as part of their Eagle Projects and committee members and other volunteers have continued to cut and blazed new trails.

The original "orange" trail (M & M Trail) follows Old Meetinghouse Road straight down to where it intersects with Greeley Road just off Route 119, and also branches off to join up with the "red" loop trail (Meetinghouse Park Trail). The "red" trail is well marked and easy to follow.

The newest "yellow" trail (Highland Street Trail) is still being cleared and blazed, but is easy enough to follow if you pay attention to the markings.

There is no real need for bush-whacking to get to any of the caches, but because of the total distance involved - and the fact that it is wet and muddy in places even in dry season - I rated this on the high side for terrain, even though it is not really rough or nasty - just a little on the long side if you have some little ones along for the adventure. One last thing - Bring LOTS of DEET along during bug season!

Happy 'Caching!

After a few comments asking about a trail map, I am uploading my version of a MHP Trail map...see the picture link below.
