Geocache Description:

Small clear box close to the Pebble Creek. The only difficult part of this cache is to park, so is easier to ride your bike or walk there. If you do need to park, there's penty of parking on streets of the neighborhood right behind it.
The cache can be considered almost weelchair accessible. You can use the sidewalk, but there is a small are awith grass between the sidewalk and the cache.

I wanted to place this cache here in Boise to celebrate the first time my mom visits me here in Idaho. And also to celebrate the fact that she got totally addicted to geocaching, being a very good geocaching buddy.

The original idea was to place a Halloween cache. So we bought this really cool Halloween necklace for the FTF. Turns out that moms are unpredictable. So when we were finally getting ready to place our cache, she changed her mind. The pumpkin would remind her of Cinderella's pumpkin carriage (she is a big fairy tales fan). She also wanted the name of the cache to be the one from Perrault's original tale, that inspired Disney's animated version.

Doing some research, we found out that Perrault himself was inspired by an old Eurpoean tale collected by Giambattista Basile, in 1635, but the idea of a unknown woman dropping her shoes in front of a authority figure (like the prince) was even older: one of the versions date back from 1st century BC, and talks about an Egyptian girl named Rhodopis, whose sandals were taken by an eagle that drops it in front of the Pharaoh Amasis. The Pharaoh asks all the women in his kingdom to try the shoes. He falls in love and marries Rhodopis.

I hope you enjoy this cache as much as we did. My mom is back home by now, but have wonderful memories from Boise. This area is also close to my home, and I really like it. The creek is a little hidden treasure that otherwise would not be noticed by the busy people passing Parkcenter Blvd.
