In the past there was a cach located in the same general area but has since disappeared and I thought it was time for another one since there is currently no other TB motels along highway 70.
The cache is located near the observation point for the Organ Mountains. Parking is available at the rest area on the south side of highway 70 just as you come through San Augustine Pass heading east.
The geocach contains toy cars, a deck of cards, a few critters, and of course a newly released TB named Leo. FTF is an un-activated travel suitcase #USG70P (geocoin that is not really a coin). Cache is in a small ammo box hidden under a bush and surrounded by some large rocks.
As usual use caution while hiking in the desert and be aware of wildlife such as spiders and snakes and always drink plenty of fluids.
Enjoy the short hike and the beautiful view of the Organ Mountains.
