Geocache Description:

This is a small cache at the edge of a large park. It is a round screw top container.

Our family used to come here to swim and to swing out and drop into the water from a rope tied on to a tree at the water's edge. The river bank was open to the park along it's entire length. However, those concerned for our safety, have placed a barbed wire fence along most of the river's edge now. (When did the 'authorities' decide we couldn't be responsible for our own safety near a river's edge?) When I saw the fence I was appalled. However, the tree with the rope to swing out from is still hanging in there, although it's looking like it's losing it's grip on the bank as a lot of the bank has been washed away. Turn into the park just near Lyons Crossing. This park has undergone quite an extensive 'refit' with new amenities, bbq's, picnic tables, a gazebo, rubbish bins and parking area. If you are wondering about the location of the cache, it is situated where it is because other likely sites were in danger of flooding or would be too muggle heavy. I walked along the river edge and at one point I could see flood evidence high in the trees. Please replace cache well with necessary camoflage as scrub turkeys can uncover things and leave them exposed. Thanks. PIRATE63 was the FTP (first to plunder) this cache! Congratulations!
