Geocache Description:

This is a simple multi-stage cache. The posted coordinates will take you to a location where you will find an identification number. The ID is used to derive the coordinates for the final cache located nearby. BYOP. Obey posted signs.

You will be looking for a nine character identification code posted on a prominent object at the provided coordinates. The id code is eight digits followed by a letter: abcdefgh*, a-h are digits 0-9, and * is the letter.

The final cache is located at N 41° 50.962 plus/minus offset, W 087° 59.XYZ

For the latitude, calculate the offset by adding the digits a-h, and subtracting four. If the letter is 'N', add the offset to the thousandths of a minute. If the letter is 'S', subtract the offset.

For the longitude, the thousandths of a minute are XYZ, where X = d, Y = f, and Z = b + e.

EXAMPLE: The id code is 12341234N
The sum of the digits is 20, subtracting four gives an offset of 16. The letter at the end of the id code is 'N', so adding 16 to the latitude gives N 41° 50.978.
X = 4, Y = 2, and Z = 2 + 1. This gives a longitude of W 087° 59.423
