Maria Kapelletje
Aangezien er in onze omgeving nog niet zoveel caches zijn hebben wij mooie plekjes uitgezocht....
Gewoon even een mooi plekje om te niksen, te genieten en nergens aan te denken.......
De serie bestaat uit 5 caches.


Dit Mariakapelletje op de Ossenbroek is gebouwd tijdens een zomerkamp van het Brabants Studentengilde in 1942, samen met mensen uit de omgeving. De kapel is gewijd aan Onze Lieve Vrouw Koningin van de Vrede. Het staat aan de rechterkant bij de toegang tot het landgoed Hiersenhof van de familie De Quay aan de Heuf in Beers, waar de studenten verbleven. De r.k. studenten hadden de gewoonte tijdens zo’n kamp een Mariakapelletje te bouwen, maar hier kreeg het een speciale betekenis vanwege de gijzeling door de Duitsers van prof. dr. J.E. de Quay in Sint-Michielsgestel en diens mogelijke executie. De Quay, voormalig leider van de Nederlandsche Unie en de latere premier en Commissaris van de Koningin in Noord-Brabant, bleef gespaard. Dat werd duidelijk op 15 augustus, toen ook de kapel werd ingewijd.

Het kapelletje wordt dagelijks en intensief bezocht, in het bijzonder jaarlijks op Maria Hemelvaart (15 augustus). De Lambertusparochie te Beers houdt jaarlijks een ‘bedevaart’ naar de Mariakapel omstreeks Maria Hemelvaart die vooraf gegaan wordt door een mis in de parochiekerk.

This Maria Chapel was built during a summer camp of the Brabant Students Guild in 1942, together with people from the area. The chapel is dedicated to Our Sweet Lady Queen of Peace. The chapel is situated on the right side of the access to the Hiersenhof estate, owned by the Quay family. The Hiersenhof estate is situated upon the Heuf in Beers. This is where the students stayed. The roman catholic students had the habit to build a Maria chapel during such a camp, but in this case it had a special meaning, due to the kidnapping of professor JE de Quay in Sint-Michielsgesten by the Germans, and his possible execution. The Quay, a former leader of the Dutch Union, the future prime minister of the Netherlands and even later the Commissioner of the Queen in Noord-Brabant, was spared. This became clear on August 15, when the chapel was consecrated.

The chapel is visited intensively every day, especially at annual Assumption Day (August 15). The Lambertusparochie in Beers organizes a pilgrimage once a year to the Maria Chapel, preceded by a service in the religious community church.
