Red Brow Cutting is a protected site of geological interest. It is
where Red Brow Lane has been cut down though hard sandstone and
softer mudstone to go underneath the Bridgewater Canal. There is a
variety of plant life growing along the rock face on both sides of
the lane, which includes mosses, liverworst, ferns, arum lillies
and even some oak trees have managed to gain a foothold in the many
fissures.
If you look on both side of the Aqueduct directly above the road
there is a max headroom sign for vehicles (or very tall people).
The odd thing you will notice is that the height is different on
either side.
The cache can be found at N53 19.E,D,A W002 39.B-(D+E),C-D,B
A and B are the height in feet and inches on the sign on the East
face of the Aqueduct.
C and D are the height in feet and inches on the sign on the West
face of the aqueduct.
E is the difference between the two heights in inches.
The cache is a small clip lock box which just contains another new
unused USB stick as a FTF prize, the log, a pen, and my 1st
Geocoin.
