Geocache Description:

Cache is a small 400mL Sistema container in a clip lock bag, a short walk down a fire break on the outside of the old Atlantis Marine Park boundary fence. Cache contains log book, pencil, sharpener, 1st-4th to find cards and finder’s cards. No swaps included but room for coins and only small trackables. Please keep logs short as the log book is only small. Please be sure to rehide container well as this is a popular area for young and destructive muggles. Thanks and happy hunting!!

Atlantis Marine Park was operational in Two Rocks, Western Australia between 1981 and 1993 and was a cross between “Sea World” and “Wet & Wild”. Only an hour from Perth it was once a very popular tourist attraction having not only water slides and pools but also Leopard Seals and Dolphins. For the people who lived the dream and attended this great water park, it is now a distant memory.

Atlantis Marine Park, although derelict, still exists. The giant King Neptune is one of the first things you notice when you head into town. He’s looking a bit worse for wear now days but he still stands strong. Within the park itself, the basic structures are still there along with many of the original statues all made out of local sandstone. A few of the smaller statues have been relocated to the adjacent park.

Atlantis is owned by an Asian Company (So I heard) and plans look set to turn the old theme park into yet another housing estate. There is a lot of art, history and culture remaining on the grounds and it would be sad to see it all go to be replaced by housing. With a bit of work, the land (or at least parts of it) could be converted into a reserve of some form, a place for families again. That unfortunately is up to the owners of the land and so far it isn’t looking good for those of us who remember the ‘good times’.

I must remind everyone that although it may not look like it, the site of Atlantis is Private Property and shouldn’t be accessed without permission. That choice is up to you and I take NO responsibility for anyone going in.

The Lost City of Atlantis cache is best accessed from the carpark near the Two Rocks Marina, behind the old theme park. There is a set of steps leading up to the adjacent land, next to the structure that used to be the First Aid Star. Cache is in the bushes at knee level along the outside of the fence along the fire break. Neptune will be on the look out for you!!

Please be honest in your log. Let me know what you think. If the co-ordinates are off or anything is wrong please let me know so I can fix it.
