Forest Challenge 4
Peach Trees Campsite
Jimna
27th - 28th February 2010
The event will be a vehicle based navigation event and camping
weekend.
Reccomended for 4WD vehicles. All vehicles must be able to drive on
gravelled forest roads.
The main event will start on saturday at 12:00 pm.
Please make sure you sign in before this time.
The event is points based so you can have as long as you like to
enjoy the scenery. There will be a staggered start based on 'Sign
in' order. There may well also be a few 'challenges' en-route. All
questions will be multi-choice answers. There will also be Kid
Stops on the way to keep the little ones entertained.
Waypoints will be provided by GPX file. Although I will have a
laptop with a variety of leads, it is ultimately up to you to
ensure that you can get the data into your GPS. Please test that
you can do this or contact me asap, so that I can come up with a
solution. (there could be quite a few waypoints - feel free to do
them by hand if you like!)
You must book your campsite in advance on the EPA website. Click
this link to get to the site. (select Jimna, then Peach Trees)
There is NO self registration on site!
If you wish to go to the site eary, please feel free. The event
will be run from as near to the gateway as possible to minimise
disturbance to other campers. There is a large flat area on the
left just inside the gate, if anyone is there early, please try to
grab a bit of space and warn anyone else.
Fuel
The nearest fuel to Jimna is in Kilcoy, which is approximitely 40
kms away. You will need to have at least 50kms worth of fuel for
the event itself, plus any exploring that you may wish to do on
Sunday.
Sunday
There is the option of having a drive around on Sunday if you wish.
There are numerous caches in the area (see below) if you wish to do
these.

Questions and Answers:
Do I have to have a 4WD to attend?
Four wheel drive is specified to cover my ass!
Previous runs have catered for 2WD. You are perfectly welcome to
come in a 2WD, campsite access is for 2WD cars so no problem there.
As for the event, you will be traversing forest tracks that could
consist of the following:
- Grass in middle of the road.
- Occasional shallow washouts (with or without some water).
- Uneven Terrain
- Boulders/Rocks in road
The emphasis is more on ground clearance than on the 4WD
aspect.
If anyone wishes to bring a 2WD then you are more than welcome to
give it a go, but bear in mind the above comments.
