Four Hundred ThirtyEighth in the Famous People (FP) Series - Miss Kitty
Miss Kitty Russell was the owner and madam of the Long Branch Saloon. During the radio days of Gunsmoke (April 26, 1952 until June 18, 1961), the role was played by Georgia Ellis. The television series ran from September 10, 1955 to March 31, 1975 and starred Amanda Blake as Miss Kitty.
While Matt Dillon and Miss Kitty clearly had a close personal relationship, the two never married. The nearest that Matt and Kitty had to a romantic encounter was in a comic episode ("Quiet Day in Dodge"), where Matt, tired from a long day of settling disputes, was about to have dinner with Miss Kitty. However, she was distracted and found poor Matt sound asleep. Kitty ended up storming out of the room, furious.
Miss Kitty was viewed more as "the proprietor of a saloon" on the television series, and except for a few early scripts taken from the radio series, viewers only saw Miss Kitty as a kindhearted businesswoman. Nonetheless, there is no escaping the fact that several scenes depicted one of her "girls" leading a cowboy to the second floor of the saloon, where the boarding-house was situated.
So it is with that in mind, that I now lead you by the hand on a virtual ..... well, you know. Yes, there are six stages and the redirectors are pretty much guaranteed to be there.
At Stage I, find Miss Kitty's marker, and the year she was born.
Then walk over to the Historical Marker by the church and answer the question. Continue to work your way around the cemetery and enjoy the *tour*. The final is a square lock-n-lock box capable of holding trade items. Please, please remember to rehide back in the exact same place using the same hiding technique.
