THIS CACHE IS NOT CHILD FRIENDLY!!! REPEAT, NOT CHILD FRIENDLY!!!
Lets get ready to scramble!!!!! I spotted this place while playing with google earth 5.0 and decided to go look at it in person. That was 10 days ago, and I've been chomping at the bit ever since to do it. So after a few days of dry weather Team Geogold decided it was time to do it, and take a break from LC for a few days. OK so here we go. Back in 1950 they started building Detroit dam and of course with all the cement they would need rock, and this is where the blasted it from. After they got done with the dam in 1953, they started reclaiming the hillside by taking out the roads, and planting trees. Now theres a beautiful flat where you ARE allowed to camp IF you have the back to carry all your gear up nearly 300 feet of boulders. This is a 2 stage attack. The first stage is climbing the boulder field.

Picture taking a foolball field and putting boulders as large as a pickup truck on it, then rising it to a 75 degree angle. THAT is stage 1. The higher you go, the bigger the boulders.Near the top the boulders get extremely large and there are many places where you can accidentaly slip down into.
Once you get to the top of the boulder field you are awarded with one of the best views of Detroit Dam below you!!

Now it's time to walk over to where you will do stage 2 which is ALOT easier!! You will cross the "flat" to where an old cat road will take you up stage 2.
You will take this "road" all the way to the cliffs edge.
As your at the cliffs edge go back 15 feet and look to your left. The cache is about 8 feet up behind a few rocks and under some moss.
Now that you have done 1/2 the cache, now comes the fun part, going back DOWN!! Remember, gravity is NOT your friend here!!!!
Please be VERY VERY careful both going up AND down here. Some of the boulders DO MOVE and the moss is beyond slippery. I did it in sandals, but I always were them, I recommend boots.
