A easy stroll to a micro over looking Hawker. Turn off to the entry point is approx 1.5 km out of Hawker on the Wilpena Road. You will need your own pen and no swaps.
Castle Rock has been the destination of many a school walk and weekends spent playing up there as a kid.
For the Aussie TV buffs it was also the location used for Boney ( Det Insp Napoleon Bonaparte) to put his tracking skills into use in the 1971/2 episode Boney Meets The Daybreak Killer
Co starring a young Rowena Wallace and Noel Ferrier. The murder of two girls in the outback town of Daybreak ( Hawker )has baffled local police. Boney arrives to work on the case under cover as a horse breaker.
James Laurenson ( Boney ) won a Logie award for Best Individual Acting Performance (1972) for this episode. Sadly none of the locals that had cameos were nominated for these awards. There were several other episodes filmed in the town and area........hmmm maybe more caches to follow........
Episode Airdate: Melbourne 3/8/72, Port Augusta SA 3/10/72, Wollongong NSW 29/6/74
