Geocache Description:

Cache is located on a steep path up to/down from Worsley Monument.

The obelisk monument at the top is to Sir Robert Worsley who began the construction of the current day Appuldurcombe. His heir, Richard, built the monument in his honor. It was severely damaged by lightening in 1831, and restored in 1983.

You can find more about this monument at here

There really isn't much left of the monument, but the views from the top are amazing. You can see most corners of the island from up here - from Portmouth to Freshwater, from Fawley to Wroxhall.

Well worth the very steep steps up. Pick this one up on the way from/to our Freemantle Gate cache.
