Geocache Description:

Every pearl is unique and of extraordinary beauty, just as the beaches along the waterfront of Qualicum are. I have named this series of ten beach caches, "String of Pearls" because every cache site is truly an exceptional pearl and cachers should have the opportunity of visiting and enjoying all of them. Enjoy this string of Pearls.

Though not the first european to settle in the Qualicum area, Mr. Thomas Kinkade, in 1884, was the first to register for land with a claim for 160 acres at the mouth of the Little Qualicum River. The log home he built for his family in 1886, still stands and sits in the Marshall-Stevenson Wildlife Preserve. Mr. Kinkade was one of a group who found the road around Cameron Lake to Alberni Valley.

As like most of the waterfront roads in Qualicum, Kinkade is narrow, so it is advised to park at 49 21.967 124 28.890 and walk to the public access trail to the beach. Walk past the Water Conservation Level sign and you will see the trail. Please respect private property. This is a great beach that a lot of the locals use during the summer when the main beach is overloaded with summer visitors. Great beach, privacy, lots of birds, tremendous views. I hope you enjoy this pearl.

Reach deep into narrow crevice in log that has another log resting on it just above the crevice. The resting log is beside a very knotty log.

Cache has been moved from waypoints by approximately four feet to better protect it from incoming storms.

Congratulations to ceebeecee for FTF
