The cache is on Sustrans National Cycle Network route 82, that goes from Tregaron to Aberystwyth - we have put several other caches on the cycle path and may put a few more, to make a nice string of them, so a cycling cacher can have a good caching day out. As it's a cycle path, the terrain is reasonably flat and most of the caches can be easily reached from the path.
This cache is placed very near to Tregaron Bog - a fantastic example of raised bog and home to many rare species of flore and fauna including otters, hen harriers and a variety of orchids. We've not placed any caches on this reserve on the grounds that it is a SSSI and lots of the terrain should not be disturbed. It is beautiful any time of year although in the mid winter it can get very cold indeed.
If you are on a bike, carry on to the main part of the reserve - there are places to park your bikes and you can take a stroll on the boardwalk atop the bog.
The cache is a small cylindrical lock and lock container with the usual swaps inside.
Whilst we would love people to cycle or walk here, we know it's not possible for all so there are parking co-ords listed also.
