Every pearl is unique and of extraordinary beauty, just as the beaches along the waterfront of Qualicum are. I have named this series of ten beach caches, "String of Pearls", because every cache site is truly an exceptional pearl and cachers should have the opportunity of visiting and enjoying all of them. Enjoy this lovely string of pearls.
Milner Gardens & Woodland is one of the Seven Wonders of Oceanside, and as well, has been voted one of the ten best public gardens in Canada. This 70 acres of unspoiled beauty, sits atop a bluff that overlooks the Strait of Georgia, and is comprised of sixty acres of old growth forest and ten acres of woodland gardens. A unique heritage home sits amid the gardens, and it was in this setting, that Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip once stayed, and Prince Charles and Princess Diana visited.
The property is owned by the Vancouver Island University whose goal is to maintain the garden in perpetuity for education and for the community's benefit. This teaching garden and woodland is a superb living laboratory for the university's horticultural students, but also provides learning opportunities for the public via events and programs for all ages. The public are invited to visit this very magical place and take a step back in time.
The cache has been placed outside the gate, but on the University's property, so it will be available to cachers 24/7. University staff are aware of the cache
Please respect the very sensitive plant life, but do enjoy this very unique pearl along Qualicum's waterfront.
Congratulations to ceebeecee for FTF
