In Prince Caspian, Trufflehunter is a wise old badger who aids Caspian in his struggle and is faithful to Aslan and old Narnia. We are introduced to him helping Caspian and saving him from the storm in the forest by taking him into his den. Originally, the dwarves are suspicious of Caspian and his background, but Trufflehunter knows Caspian is meant to free them from hiding and take back Narnia from the Telmarines. He is very knowledgeable in old Narnia legends and tales. Despite many doubts over Aslan's true existence, he remains faithful during the entire novel. In the movie version, we see him shot with a crossbow by the telmarines, and instructs Caspian to leave him and take Queen Susan's Horn, saying "It's more valuable than I am". Caspian grabs him, and they are both saved by Reepicheep. Director Andrew Adamson describes Trufflehunter as "a walking and talking Narnian library [who is] totally old-school". In Adamson's adaptation Trufflehunter is portrayed as humble and valiant; perhaps the most level-headed and forgiving of the Narnians towards the Telmarine threat. He too however is willing to fight for freedom, and is seen amongst the fighting Narnians in the battle at Aslan's Howe.
