The Blue Hills Reservation is a great piece of hiking wilderness, considering how close it is to Boston. On a good weekend, it can be as crowded as any city park.

Park off Rt 138, at the northernmost lot, after the Trailside Museum. Take the Wolcott trail to the east, then branch off to the SE on the Puddle Path, towards Wildcat Notch.
