Geocache Description:

The cache is a regular size peanut butter jar with the regular swag goodies & log book.

In 1886 Detroit was a thriving community with grocery stores, a drug store, butcher shop, two blacksmiths, a hotel, and a livery & feed stable as well as other trades, services and sundry shops. One of the first was a general store that opened in 1881. When automobiles became popular, the blacksmith was enlarged to include a garage and Ford dealership that later also sold Willis-Overland cars. M.C. Nichols, who worked for the dealership, recalled that he usually had to teach the buyer how to drive! The population and business activity peaked in the 1920s and began to decline during the depression of the 30s. Stop by the Midway Bar & Grill on Old Hwy 40 for a burger and some deep-fried green beans. They’re delicious!
