Geocache Description:

A multi cache around the village of Beaulieu in the New Forest, in Hampshire, collecting information on your short walk. But as Summer times arrives enjoy a SHORT walk around the village to collect numbers and see the lovely views. Great tearooms and icecreams shops in the village main street.

This Cache around the Village has been put out with the Knowledge of The Beaulieu Estate Manager who gave me permission to hide the final cache where it is. The Grid above is for the Start of you walk at the Village Car Park, at 50 49 056 N 001 27 171 It's a Pay and Display Car Park. The Village does have a busy road through it so PLEASE take extra care when walking between the high street and around to the river, as some of pavements are rather narrow. There are 22 questions to answer, they are in the right order for your walk - Coordinates are given if required, but all should be spotted with ease. A Calculator would be a handy tool to take with you on this cache !! The "Checksum" of your 22 answers should be - 11807 --. After collecting your answers, I suggest you walk back to the Bus Shelter where you can sit, Mill pond side and enjoy the view and work out where the final cache is hidden. What are you looking for !! well this Cache is hanging around, but has 'NO' room for a pen or pencil, so please have one with you. THE HISTORY OF BEAULIEU The name Beaulieu is derived from the Latin "Bellus Locus" meaning a beautiful place. The estate has been in Lord Montague's family since 1538 and has been a Motor Museum since 1952.and is probably what most visitors come to see. As you wander through the village you will no doubt notice that some of the cottage doors are painted red whilst other are not. The red doored cottages signify that they still belong to the Montague Estate. Beaulieu Abbey was founded in 1204 by Cistercian Monks on land given to them by King John. Although much was destroyed at the time of the Dissolution of the Monasteries during the reign of Henry VIII, there is still much for visitors to see today. Palace House was formerly the 14th century Great Gatehouse of Beaulieu Abbey, and is set in glorious grounds and gardens with immaculate spreading lawns and walkways overlooking the Beaulieu River. The present Lord Montagu of Beaulieu is a well known motoring personality who founded Britain's National Motor Museum, internationally recognised as one of the finest in the world. The museum holds over 250 vehicles and includes world class examples of automotive interest, from early examples of motoring from the 1890's to legendary motor vehicles from all over the world, including record breakers such as "Bluebird" and "Golden Arrow". The Motor Museum is open every day (except 25th Dec) from 10:am, so look up on their web site for all prices and details of any special events.
