Geocache Description:

Went to Painted Gorge to do a little fishing, but no there was no water in the gorge. Well we didn’t want it to be a wasted trip so we put our tackle in a camouflaged cookie tin and hid a cache. Contains a mix of bobbers, and lures. The hooks are covered with foil, but use caution handling them. The cache is a short walk/climb up the West bank. Watch for desert critters.

This little canyon is a rock hound’s dream. As you travel up, or down depending on which way you come in, you will see a large variety of colors, and different types of formations. If you’re lucky you might even find some fossils. The sides of the canyon change colors, and types of rocks at almost every turn. This canyon is located a short ways to the West of Painted Gorge Road, against the mountain.
You can enter at the bottom off Painted Gorge Rd, or farther up by going through the flat camping areas, and dropping over the sides in several places. A 4X4 or ATV is highly recommended.
