We were told about this abandoned tourquoise mine in 1999. The
families came to take a look at it and scoured the area for any
pieces we could find. I have a few larger rocks with veins going
through them at home. A year or so later someone tried re-mining
with from what we can figure no luck. Now there seems to be only
oil field drilling going on around the site.
The original cache has been moved closer to the mine because
someone came in and removed the original vehicle that it was placed
in. That vehicle had been painted with the words "Mine Clame" on
it. You can walk around the mine at your own risk. We DO NOT advise
children being up there as we did see 3 fairly good sized snake
skins and there is a somewhat filled in mine shaft.
The new cache has FTF prize, log, some tradeables and small
tourquoise pieces that we had picked up off of the road by the
mine. I have also added a couple of new pictures.
