A 35mm film container placed near the original entrance to the former Round Oak Steelworks containing log book, pencil and FTF badge.
Round Oak Steelworks was founded in 1857 by the Earl of Dudley, closed in 1982 and was an important steel production site in Brierley Hill. The site was later re-developed into what now are the Waterfront Business and Office Complex and the Merry Hill Shopping Centre. There is soon to be a monument erected on the traffic island in recognition of Round Oak.
The lump of steel has come out of one of the casting ladles which has been tipped upside down and if you look closely you can see the shape of the brickwork.
It weighs approx 35/40 tons and ya wouldn’t like it on ya foot! and is said to be from the very last cast of steel produced at the site. So if you consider the vastness of the former steelworks and the amount of steel it produced, it really is
A Little Bit Of Round Oak!
This is a very public area so you will need to use great stealth and please re-hide exactly as found
ps. Its a Dream to park!
Congratulations Maxtrev FTF
