Cache IS located on private property, but with full permission. You will not need to cross any fences. Terrain is fairly level, but beware of obstacles like hedge apples, thorns, and so forth. Poison Ivy and/or Sumac is often present in warmer weather. Cache is NOT recommended at night because there is a resident skunk in the area ;) You can park on the side of the road near the cache. Property owners may be chatty if you encounter them; they are fully aware of what geocaching is. Please be respectful of the property.
The house you see just to the west and slightly north of the cache was built in 1890. For 100 years it was the only house visible from this spot, except perhaps for the house across the highway. Most of the land you can see from the cache was its original property. The house was built atop a natural rock shelf that extends underneath the vast majority of the current property. A bit to the southwest of the house there was another structure (it's long gone except its foundation and well) that we suspect provided ice for much of the area. If you happen to know more on this, let me know! I'd love to add as many tidbits of history as possible.
