At Ground Zero you will be in front of the Mount Compass Community Arts Group Cow Sculpture, a project to celebrate the 1994 International Year of the Family. The sculpture was built to symbolise togetherness and community spirit while reflecting the local areas dairying history. The mother cow was finally finished in 1996 and joined by her calf in October the following year, with completion of the whole project in June 1997.
Behind the cows you will find a brick pedestal stand with a plaque on the top. Center your thoughts around the cows on the front of this brick stand to find the answers you require.
Count cows and divide the answer by 2 and you will get ”A”
In the very bottom row you will notice there is a different amount of cows than all other rows, the number of cows in this row will give you ”B”.
How many of the cows in this bottom row are predominantly white with black markings? The answer will be “C”
Using these calculations work out the following: S 35° 20. ABA E 138° 37.CBB
At the final location you will be in a great spot to watch where the Compass Cow race took place.
The race went for 46 years and was the only cow race in Australia. Unfortunately, the committee decided to discontinue the annual event in 2020 much to the disappointment of many.
