Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This cache is located in False Cape State Park.
Enjoy the trek on the Sand Ridge Trail (formerly the Interior Trail). A small ammo can is there waiting for you. Whether you came the long way from Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge or the short way across the most fortified state border crossing in the country at the VA/NC state line, take in all that is offered at False Cape State Park. Dolphins in the waves, deer, bald eagles, osprey, foxes, feral pigs, otters and the occasional wild horse can be seen here as well as black rat snakes, green snakes, garter snakes and venomous cottonmouth water moccasins. Always come prepared with water, insect repellent and sunscreen. Access to False Cape State Park is obtained by hiking or bicycling through the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge, by boating across the Back Bay or on the beach from the VA/NC border. Parking is available at the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge visitor center or at the Little Island City Park. Fees and access hours for these parking areas vary with the seasons.
No matter which direction you come from, there are nearby caches you will pass by on your way to this one.
The required permit for this cache has been approved by the Park Manager.
