Geocache Description:

The cache is located on a green lane which links the A166 with the village of Kirby Underdale. The lane passes over Megdale Brow and opens out to give magnificent views in all directions.
To take best advantage of the views the nearest place to park would be the lay-by at Garrowby Hill Top on the A166 at co-ordinates: N 54 00.021 W 000 46.120.

There is an 8 mile mostly off road circular walk we would recommend which would pass by the cache. We call it the Wayrham Picnic Site Circular:-

Park at the Wayrham Picnic Site at the Huggate turnoff, opposite Wayrham Farm, on the A166 approximately 3 miles south west of Fridaythorpe. Take the public footpath near the beginning of the Huggate Road and follow the field headland approximately south west to reach a Roman Road (The Bence). Turn left and follow the minor road for 0.50km before turning right onto the footpath which leads through Deep Dale onto Bishop Wilton Wold. Cross a minor road (Beacon Road) and follow the footpath to Crow Wood. Turn right and the footpath continues above Worsen Dale before reaching a minor road (from Bishop Wilton). Turn right onto the road to reach the A166. Cross the road with care and follow the green lane north via Megdale Brow to Kirby Underdale. (This green lane is known as Water Lane - and for good reason - the track can be very muddy as it reaches the village).

Turn right in the village and follow the minor road past All Saints' Church and continue up Painsthorpe Lane until you reach the Roman Road. Turn left and very soon turn right to follow a public bridleway past Painsthorpe Wold Farm down into Worm Dale. In the bottom of the dale you reach a crossroads of footpaths. Turn right and follow the footpath through Bradeham Dale to Wayrham Dale carefully crossing the A166 again to return to the Wayrham Picnic Site.

Enjoy!!
