This cache is placed just off highway 74 in Garner Valley on the road up to Little Thomas Mountain. Great place to drop off travel bugs!
I wanted to make the cache all season, so I placed it before the gate that's closed in winter. But if the gate is open, consider driving up the road for fantastic views of Garner Valley and the Desert Divide mountain range.
The Garner Ranch is a working cattle ranch with a long history. These westerns were filmed at the Garner Ranch: "Guns and Guitars" (1936), "Heading for the Rio Grande" (1936), "Springtime in the Rockies" (1937), "Brothers in the Saddle" (1949), "Riders of the Range" (1949), and "Storm over Wyoming" (1950). The Garner Ranch also stood in for the Ponderosa in episodes of the TV show Bonanza.
For a special treat, try this at night and be prepared to see millions of stars.
Thanks go to DevildogLt for providing the cache container, but more importantly for serving the cause of freedom. This cache is part of the “Black Friday Ammo-can-apalooza” to say thanks for your generosity.
Please hide it well, this cache will disappear if you leave it visible. Thank you!
