This is one of a series of caches created for the purpose of introducing geocachers to the rich history, the extensive path network and the general scenic beauty of the Irvine Valley.
Parking is available at the side of the Dyke farm building.
This cache is situated along the ‘Dyke Walk’ that can be accessed through the kissing gate behind a tree to the rear left of the farm buildings. The walk initially heads up through a steep tree lined avenue before continuing through waymarked deciduous woodland. There are excellent views to the north, west and east. The Town of Darvel lies snuggled in the valley below with Loudoun Hill to the east and Arran to the west. Whitelee wind farm (largest in Europe) dominates the northern skyline.
The start of the path can be muddy so boots or wellies are recommended.
This a replacement as the earlier container has been buried under a fallen tree. Sadly, the cache title is no longer meaningful.
