The Ringwood State Park is one of New Jersey's larger State Parks with many hiking trails, lakes and other scenic spots.
Access to it is totally free. The general vicinity can be easily accessed via
I-287 (exit 57) or from Route 4 to 208.
The Park Office can be found at N41 08.298 W74 17.473.
Follow Sloatsburg Manor Road to Morris Road. Park your car
at N41 07.621 W74 14.262 . From there you will find the trail head access
road nearby at N41 07.629 W74 14.227
You could get a trail map at the Park Office but its not required for this search
Take the right trail path from the Window Cabinet to the
end where the White Trail begins on a dirt road. Follow the White Trail until
the Green Trail. Stay on the Green Trail for the duration
of the seek until a few hundred feet from the cache when you will have to decide
when to break trail and 'Go for it'. The cache is close to one of the
highest peaks in the area - Mount Defiance.
The cache is easily spotted if you are in the general
area. GPS accuracy may be sporadic until you are almost on top of the
cache when it significantly improves. The cache is in a fairly strong,
waterproof, large Tupperware.
You know the drill....take something, leave something. If
you have time, continue on the trail to Glasclear Ponds and beyond...
Enjoy
