This is one of a series of caches created for the purpose of introducing geocachers to the rich history, the extensive path network and the general scenic beauty of the Irvine Valley. N.B. There is no need to yomp across the rough cut forest. Just follow the rough road south opposite Kieland that leads to Greenfield farm and then park at the junction about 200 mtrs east of the mast. Now head west to the large padlocked entrance gates before following the fence line north.
Sitting on high moorland just south of Darvel, this television mast is 500ft (152.4 mtrs) high and can be seen for miles. It can serve as a walker's waymarker in both daylight and dark as it is illuminated at night with a row of bright red lights. It provides 10,000 KWs of service and transmits analogue, digital TV and radio. It is owned by Arqiva who provide much of the infrastructure behind television, radio and wireless communications in the UK.
