Geocache Description:

This is a cache to commemorate Strider's 5000th find.

Strider has been a member of Geocaching.com since 2/5/2001 when he found his first cache called "Under the Boardwalk". On 9/19/2009 Strider found his 5000th cache, called "Mina Sauk Falls (EC)". In his log he wrote:
"I was caching today with Crowesfeat30 & Blue, out to get my next milestone, #5,000 and this was it. A fairly cool day, and we got a long hike in before the rain.

This was a great hike, and we enjoyed the Earthcache, even though the falls were just a trickle today. If we had stayed around, I bet the rain would've made them really flow. There were several nice pools of water to cool our feet in. I have heard about these falls all of my life, and finally got here. The E-mail has been sent for Crowesfeat30 & me. Thanks ARF!

I'd also like to thank everybody for all of the fun I've had in the last 8 years of caching. Caching is great all on it's own, but it is all of the people involved that makes it even more worthwhile."

We first met Strider at the SLAGA Spring Picnic of 2007 and have been friends ever since. We decided to hide this cache in his honor in a way he would have hidden it, not too hard, but not too easy. Not a micro on a guardrail or a lamp post, but a regular container so you can put trackables in it. We also hid it in the park where he once stripped down to his BVD's to wade in the flood water for a cache, witnessed by Crowesfeat30 who was being part lookout and part laughing audience. Take note of the difficulty rating and be careful and have fun.

UPDATE: Years of rot and decay have taken its toll on this once neat hide. The recent flooding completely removed the limb the cache was in so it now rests at ground level. I will not change the difficulty levels for this will change everyone's stats.

NOTICE: Please be respectful of the posted park hours. If you enter the park after hours you are trespassing. If you are stopped you can be ticketed or arrested and will put the future of geocaching in the parks in jeopardy

Special permission to hide caches in St. Louis County parks is NOT needed as long as the Groundspeak rules are followed. "Blanket Permission" has been worked out in advance with the park service. DO NOT CALL THE PARK as they cannot handle the calls. The Groundspeak cache reviewer does need to know exactly how and where the caches are hidden and what type of containers are used. The geocaching liaisons will notify the park service of new caches. Remember NO AMMO BOXES or PVC PIPE caches.
