THIER IS A GATE THAT IS LOCKED UNTILL NOVEMBER 1st 2010. PULL THE GATE LEVER AND PUSH THE GATE OPEN. Hikers and bikers keep shutting it because they want the place to themselves. Nice drive up the road to the old lookout. Only the frame remains and the views are definitely worth the drive. From here you can see Wiskeytown, Shasta and Keswick lakes. Pretty good views of The Trinity Alps, Mt. Lassen and Redding too. There is a big buck that lives in the area you might see on your way up. Bring your binoculars and camera and enjoy. 2 wheel drive OK with moderate clearance.
