Geocache Description:

This is a multi cach located in the Northwest corner of Lake County in the Gander Mountain Forest Preserve. Parking is off of Wilmot Road. The terrain is hilly with gravel and dirt paths throughout the preserve. Some light bushwhacking is required. This preserve is open from sunrise to sunset.

There are two stages to this cache. The first stage is a small camoed medicine bottle that contains the coordinates for the final cache. The final cache is a small rubber made box that locks on four sides. It contains 30 polished stones and a FTF bronze coin. There is a log and pen as well and room for small trade items. This is one of my favorite hiking areas with hilly terrain and beautiful stands of hardwood and pine trees. It runs from Wilmot road down to the Fox River. At one time in the late seventies there were tubing runs in the winter with a rope tow to get you back up the hill. I used to take my kids here. Later it was used for dirt bike racing and eventually it evolved into the quiet woods it is today. This is my first attempt at hiding a cache. Hope you enjoy the hunt and the hike that goes with it. ATTN: The original box was damaged by animals and fire. It was replaced in March of 2021 with a small ammo can at the same coordinates. It contains polished rocks, a log and tradable items.
