Geocache Description:

Quick Road Side Cache, From GZ you can see a North Otago Land Mark.

The farm is Altavady owned by Henry and Jude Aubrey.

Henry's grandfather Ted, who lost a leg in the war, planted the trees. He thought of the idea after having to wait for one of his workers to bring up more trees to complete the planting out of a plantation on the hill.

He was so inspired by the view that he sent the worker back to get pegs and then set about marking out the name of the farm in large letters across the hill. This landmark continues to be trimmed neatly 75 years on.

If you do the cache in the dark, just check out Google Earth for a view of the hedge.

the cache is a 360ml container with log book and pen.
