Here we have the first installment of the Battle Lake Run, which winds in and around the Battle Lake area near Mart. This series is actually a spinoff of the nearby SMBR series, as I had run through parts of this area while scouting SMBR. As with that series, a number of cache names were suggested by an odd lot of sixties and seventies music which happened to be playing along the way. My apologies in advance.
As a matter of interest, Battle Lake is no more, at least as a body of water. My devices kept insisting that I was right on it, but no.. After returning home, a quick look at Google reassured me that I wasn't blind. After a prolonged and heavy period of rains, the lake's dam gave way on May 9, 2009, and the lake drained completely in less than 24 hours. At present there are no funds to restore the dam. Ah, well...
