Geocache Description:

A Christmas hide for our caching friends...
Some info to gather at stage one. A little math refresher. Plug your answer into the gadget and you're on your way to the final :)

THE HISTORY
On March 17, 1910, the Board of Education authorized the purchase of land for a new school on Niagara Street. Built at a cost of $30,500, the two story, eight room school was ready for classes in September 1912. An additional 75 feet of land was purchased in 1928 for the 1929 construction of a four room addition at the northeast corner of the building.

THE SIGNIFICANCE
In 1983 this school was used for scenes in one of our family's favorite holiday classics; A Christmas Story. Both the exterior and interior shots were done here. Even though there was a flagpole in front of this school, the scene where Flick's tongue got stuck was filmed in the rear with a specially constructed pole. Also, the firetruck from that scene is owned and maintained by the Chippewa Volunteer Fire Department. There is infact a collection of artifacts in the St.Catharines Museum that includes some props used in the film, including two pairs of Ralphie's glasses including the pair that was smashed, two scripts, and one of the Red Rider 200-shot Carbine Action Air Riffles used in the film.
Jean Shepherd's book "In God We Trust: All Others Pay Cash", which the film is partly based on, is a collection of short stories that Jean Shepherd wrote for "Playboy" magazine during the 1960s, including the stories about the tongue sticking to the flagpole, and eating Christmas dinner at a Chinese restaurant.
Declining enrolements forced the closure of the school at the end of the 2001 school year. It was purchased three years later and is currently a thirty bedroom womens shelter. The former playground was sold and the land has become the new neighbourhood of single family homes and townhouses you can see today.

THE PUZZLE
There are two female names facing Niagara Street.
Add the letters of both names together and multiply that number by 33.
Take that number and divide it by 1000. You will have the magic number you are looking for!
Now...Add it to 43 09.076 to get the North coordinates...Subtract your magic number from 79 11.675 to get the West coordinates. Easy as that!!!
Happy cachin'...
...and Merry Cachemas!
*TO ALL THE CHALLENGE CACHERS: HOPE YOU ENJOY AN "X" CLOSE TO HOME AND YOU'RE WELCOME ;O)
