Geocache Description:

A gnarly dude with a surprise DEEP inside. There is a way to retrieve the cache if you take your time to look.

Amherst island has a host of humungus balsam poplars, cottonwoods and oak trees that I absolutely love to use for geocache "hidee holes".
This tree actually came about by default as the tree more north of this one proved NOT a good idea. It was a BEE tree, magnificent in its hive and was complete with layers and layers of combs. Some of you who are not allergic to bees might like to find it as a bonus for a photo but NOT for a hide area.
As with any cavity on any tree, please be careful of your first delve...who knows what may lurk within the depth of such old giants...especially over time when a cache is first placed. At the time of the placement of this cache there was only one FRIENDLY critter in the deep home of the dude.
The cache container requires a gentle retrieval and a lot of camo to protect it from the elements when you re-hide it. This is a very kid friendly hide and you may trade up or trade even for the toy inside. Dino would like a dino theme.
Bring your own pen/pencil for the log...and once again, enjoy this fabulous island.
