How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

This series of caches is placed by the 2010 Grade 8 graduating class of Central Baptist Academy. Vancouver is hosting the 2010 Winter Olympics, so we decided to place a series of caches to commemorate this occasion. Each cache introduces one of the Olympic events. All caches are hidden along a well-travelled section of the Gordon Glaves Memorial Pathway. Bring a pencil and beware of Muggles! Park across the street at the D'Aubigny Soccer fields parking lot or along Shellard Lane.

We ask that you trade fair, "TRADE UP OR TRADE EVEN"! By continuing to play the game this way, other cachers might have a chance to enjoy finding a trackable or other geocaching swag when they visit this cache.

*FREESTYLE SKIING*
Freestyle skiing began in the 1960's in the USA. This decade of social change and freedom of expression led to new and exciting skiing techniques. This sport was originally a mix of alpine skiing and acrobatics, and the first competition was held in 1966.

Freestyle moguls became an Olympic medal event in 1992, at the Games in Albertville, France, while freestyle aerials were added for the Lillehammer 1994 Olympic Winter Games.

A new freestyle ski event will make its Olympic Winter Games debut in 2010. Ski cross, is based on a very simple concept . . . be the first to cross the finish line.

This paved trail is wheelchair and stroller friendly except near ground zero, as all caches in the series have been hidden a few metres off the trail.

It becomes a significant hike when you make it round-trip. You will find it much quicker by bike. You may even enjoy cross country skiing this trail as another option.

*OTHER CACHES ALONG THIS TRAIL*
- 2010 Winter Olympics Series
- Star Wars Series
- The Black Diamond Cache
