This series of caches is placed by the 2010 Grade 8 graduating class of Central Baptist Academy. Since Vancouver is hosting the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games, our class decided to place a short series of themed caches to commemorate this occasion. Each cache is meant to introduce one of the Paralympic events. All caches are hidden along a section of the L.E. & N. Rail Trail. Bring a pencil. There is room for two or three cars to park just south of the trail head.
We ask that you trade fair, "TRADE UP OR TRADE EVEN"! By continuing to play the game this way, other cachers might have a chance to enjoy finding a trackable or other geocaching swag when they visit this cache.
*PARALYMPICS - WHEELCHAIR CURLING*
Wheelchair curling is an adaptation of curling for athletes with a disability. It is played with the same rocks and on the same ice as regular curling, though the rocks are thrown from a stationary wheelchair and there is no sweeping. Rocks may be thrown by hand while leaning over the side of the wheelchair, or pushed by a delivery stick.
Eligibility is limited to people with disabilities so that a wheelchair is used for daily mobility.
Wheelchair curling debuted as a Paralympic event at the 2006 Winter Paralympics in Torino. Canada won the gold medal, beating Great Britain 7-4 in the final.
