Inspiration Peak Cache:
Watching a sunset and having a great dinner or picnik is worth any drive to this cache especially in the fall as the leaves change colors.
Minnesota's Nobel Prizewinning novelist Sinclair Lewis wrote: "there is to be seen a glorious 20 mile circle of some 50 lakes scattered among fields and pastures like sequins fallen on an old Paisley shawl." Sinclair Lewis said that "the enchanting peace and seclusion of this place is for contemplation."
This small roadside state park is the location of the "Inspiration Peak Cache". The park is located on County Highway 38 about halfway between the town of Battle Lake and Alexandria. It is shown on most Minnesota State roadmaps. If one is traveling Interstate Highway 94 through Minnesota, a turn North at exit 77 near Ashby and a 15 or 20 minute drive will bring you to the highest point in this beautiful area. Besides picnic tables and fireplaces, near the park is the "Peak Supper Club" with great food and nice wildlife displays for an added attraction.
The cache is located at N 46° 08.253', W 095° 34.428' and is best approached from the top of the peak.
The cache is a camo peanut butter jar.
