Brookby Quarry
Quarries are essential to every region and community’s economic
prosperity, development and wellbeing. Major new infrastructure
projects in and around the Auckland region have increased the
demand for a reliable supply of quality aggregate
A
quarry
is a type
of open-pit
mine from
which rock
or
minerals
are extracted. Quarries are generally
used for
extracting building
materials , such
as dimension
stone ,
construction
aggregate ,
riprap
,
sand ,
and gravel . They
are often collocated
with concrete
and
asphalt
plants due to the requirement for large
amounts of aggregate in those materials.
Many people and municipalities consider quarries to be eyesores and
require various abatement methods to address problems with noise,
dust, and appearance.
Many quarries naturally fill with water after abandonment and
become lakes.
Others are made
into landfills.
Cache is placed near the entrance to the Brookby Quarry. While you
are here take a moment to marvel at the vast and ever expanding
quarry you see “above’ you.
At time of placing cache contained log book, drawing stick, TB’s
and trade items. Cache is a 1 L Sistema container.
