Sinds 1981 beheert de Stad Gent de visvijver van Oostakker. Sinds 29 november 2024 maakt dit gebied deel uit van het grotere Wonderwoud. Meer info hieromtrent via de link https://natuurenbos.be/natuurgebieden/wonderwoud . Dit gebied paalt aan een zandwinningsgebied en het tijdens de oorlog voorziene noodvliegveld van Lochristi. Het domein is vrij toegankelijk en heeft een grote parking. Coördinaten van deze parking zijn N51°05.584 en E003°47.397. Naast de visvijver is er ook een ligweide en een bebost perceel. Dit is onze eerste eigen cache. Dichtbij bevindt zich ook het executieoord van Oostakker waar wij trouwens onze eerste cache logden. Persoonlijk vind ik dit gebied een oase van rust in een steeds meer oprukkende industriezone. Zittend op een bankje kijkt men over de ganse vijver. De vissers onder de geocachers kunnen er genieten om een lijntje uit te werpen (als ze er nog tijd voor hebben natuurlijk ;-). Geniet van de omgeving, maar wees oplettend met kinderen in de buurt. Zwemmen is verboden. Wandelafstand vanop de parking tot de micro-cache bedraagt een 600tal meter. Een snelle pick-up dus. Since November 29th 2024, this area is part of the larger Wonderwoud. More information about this via the link https://natuurenbos.be/natuurgebieden/wonderwoud . this cache area is adjacent to a sand mining site and the former war emergency airfield of Lochristi. The domain is free accessible for the public and has a large parking lot. Coordinates of this parking are N51°05.584 and E003°47.397. Next to the fishing pond is meadow for relaxation and a wooded lot. This is our first owned cache. Nearby one can find the execution place of Oostakker where by the way we logged our first cache.”executieoord” Personally I think of this place as a haven of tranquillity in the middle of the ever approaching industries. Sitting on a bench one can overlook the pond. The fishermen among the geocachers can enjoy throwing out a line (if they still got the time for that ofcourse ;-) Enjoy the area, but be aware with kids around.Swimming is not allowed.Walking distance from the parking lot to the micro-stash is approximatly 600meters. This makes it a fast pick-up. Plus d'informations à ce sujet via le lien https://natuurenbos.be/natuurgebieden/wonderwoud Cet endroit est adjacent à une mine de sable et l’ancien (utilisé pendant la guerre ) aéroport d’urgence de Lochristi. Le domaine est librement accessible et il y a un grand parking. Les coordonnées de ce parking sont N51°05.584 et E003°47.397. A coté de l’étang il y a une prairie de repos et une partie boisé. Ceci est notre première cache dont on est le propriétaire. Très proche se trouve aussi le lieu historique d’exécution d’Oostakker (executieoord), ou d’ailleurs nous avons trouvé et marqué notre première cache. A mon avis je trouve que cet endroit de l’étang est un lieu de tranquillité au milieu d’une zone industrielle qui vient toujours de plus près. Étant assis sur une banque on peut bien voir les contours de l’étang. Les pêcheurs parmi les geocacheurs peuvent en profiter pour jeter une ligne (à condition s’ils ont encore le temps pour cela.. ;-) Jouir de l’endroit, mais soyez quand-même prudent en présence d’enfants. Il est interdit de nager. Distance de la promenade dès le parking jusqu’a la cache est environ 600 mètres. Une vite faite alors. Les coordonnées de la cache sont N51°05.628 et E003°47.671.
