How many friends do you have? If I was asked that question I am not
sure how I would answer it. Friend is a word that means many things
to many people.
Recently, I joined a book that I will just call "face" (for the
purpose of this page). From time to time I get requests to be a
friend from people whose name I don't even recognize. Friend? Some
names I am familiar with, but I am not sure why. Friend? Some
people I think I know their names from childhood but..... Friend?
Some relatives...? Friend? Some people I know from the current day,
but would not consider them close. Friend? I would feel bad if I
just ignored them. Friend? Am I a bad friend?
I have a problem with calling too many people "Friend" If I call
too many people friends then it dilutes the word. I think a person
can only have a few true friends. But without friends we are all
alone. When I am sombody's friend I want them to know that I am
there for them, thick or thin, 9 p.m. or 2 a.m. A friend is someone
who, when I see their name on caller ID I don't send them straight
to voicemail, or if I do they are cool with it and they know I will
get back to them right away. I think if I have too many friends, I
won't have time to be a good friend to any of them. Am I over
thinking it, and thereby showing my age? I dunno.
Enough philosophy -I got this cache idea from Bobolu, but if it
is anything like the last idea I stole from him, he will still not
have any advantage while looking for this cache.
