Take in some diverse bush scenes on the way to this vista over Tawa.
The Spicer Forest covers a large area from the Western slopes of Tawa through to the Eastern slopes of Ohariu Valley. Within this block, large areas of well maintained pine plantations border on remnants of native bush and farmland. It is owned by WCC.
This cache brings you to a vantage point where you can enjoy a view over Tawa from an unusual angle.
The access point for this cache is a little known track, starting partway down a shared driveway to a couple of houses. Since you will access this cache off someone’s driveway, please show some consideration of their privacy.
Look for the driveway to numbers 58 & 58A Kiwi Cres, the track starts several meters up the driveway on the right. You do not need to go near the houses to find the trail. The start of the trail is marked with signage warning about possum baits laid in the area. Geo-hounds should not eat any carcasses and younger children should be supervised. Stick to the track and you will not be anywhere near the possum control baits.
The Cache The container is a 200ml camo Sistema, containing only a logbook and pen. There is room for small trackables, but not much else.
